BMW 700 Info .....
Following the success and the pioneering designs of
the Isetta and the BMW 600 , BMW's next introduction
was a surprise return to a three-box shape .
Underneath was the Isetta's simple front suspension and the 600's rear engine , now
enlarged to 700cc , but the new bodywork was undeniable attractive .
It was offered as a elegant Coupe and as a roomy 4-seat saloon .
The BMW 700 was the swansong of BMW's small car range and eventually made way
for the BMW 1500 which was the first of a new generation of water-cooled front-engined
cars which would lead BMW to the success they enjoy today .
TMC offer BOTH popular body styles , the Saloon and the Coupe .
When there's conveniently a car nearby , measurements can be taken and translated
into a 3-D solid master model .
When there's NO car close by , photos , books and drawings must be studied in detail .
Here's three stages of modelling ...

The solid master model ;
and the first 700 saloon bodyshell to
emerge from the moulds .
Shown on the left here's an advanced
stage of the Coupe master model .
The wheels must be accurately
positioned for possible later mating
to a radio - controlled chassis .
TMC have converted the first BMW 700 Coupe model bodyshell to Radio-Control and
supplied to an enthusiast in Georgia , USA .
